Can I file my own bankruptcy case?
Murray Utah Bankruptcy Lawyer Video #5:
Can I file my own bankruptcy case?
Anyone can file a bankruptcy action without the use of an attorney, just like most legal actions. Anyone can go to court and file paperwork.
I will say that, in my 22 years of practice and the varied type of legal work that I have performed, bankruptcy especially since the 2005 changes, is one of the more complicated areas.
So, while it is possible, there are not formats online that really assist you as opposed to, for example, individuals who file their own divorces. There are places that you can go to get online assistance for such work.
For a bankruptcy, again, it can be done but it’s not something that we recommend.
